I can see issues with using scuba equipment - a novice diver could easily ascend / descend too quickly. Personally I'd be very careful combining the two and only dive shallow - freediving with a Seabob would be my choice. Yes theyre expensive but youre probably paying for testing and QA. I wouldnt want to have a unit fail while in the deep.

I was just researching the Beneteau swift trawler line. They made a swift trawler 50 and now they make a swift trawler 48 . The difference in interior space between both boats is amazing .The 50 is so much bigger. Now I noticed that the newer swift 48 has regular shaft drives again where the older 50's only come with pod drives. That of course makes you wonder why Beneteau the largest boat builder in the world after all goes back from pods to shafts. Maybe someone who reads this knows more about that ?

You obviously have no direct long term experience. POD seal replacement $9k - $14k per pod. To replace to and bottom seal you have to remove the entire pod actuator since top and bottom seals must be replaced. If water got into the actuator then you are talking 35k and up to replace or rebuild. Plus when any of these events occur which do frequently it can take 2 months to fix. Imagine if the boat is 100s of miles from home. None if these isses with shafts and thrusters with joystick option as well.

because they are luxury items. the market are the rich people thats why they are expensive. they make those gimmicky features inside the boat that you can easily do or not really important features and give it a high price. if you just want to experience the sea and do everything a luxury yacht can do. build your own boat. it will cost fraction of the price if you buy a luxury one. aluminum is not cheap but aint too expensive either.

Yacht investment is absolutely not good investment for start ups, it is capital intensive, depreciating asset subject to market conditions wish i can get a better investment plan at least to afford the dream life
